It was brought to my attention by a customer that had plantation shutters installed in his 2 bay windows that they are a moisture trap and dust trap.
These were fitted by another well know company and although is not a fault with the blinds or fitting it has to be taken into consideration.
As shutters are fairly new to the UK blinds market this is a problem that might start to show up over the following few years.
The moisture running down the window from condensation has collected between the original window frame and the shutter blinds.
Dust and dirt has mixed with it making it almost impossible to drain away and has resulted in the window frame, the shutters themselves and the window sill showing signs of rotting.
Something to bear in mind if having plantation shutters fitted.
Panda Blinds ltd do not do shutters but do a venetian style of shutter which will not give the above problem.
